While Joan Minchak was working as a graphic artist and Bob Minchak was employed as a credit specialist, the couple shared a dream to start their own business-- to publish a direct mail all advertising magazine. Though the idea was not unique, the Minchaks figured they could offer advertising for half the price of the competition and still make a fair profit. In 1985 the business was launched from their apartment with a 16-page, hand delivered publication. Today, J.B. Dollar Stretcher Magazine, published in 72 regional editions, is Ohio 's largest local direct mail advertising medium. The Minchaks credit their success to their commitment to the idea that successful employees and successful customers are the ingredients needed for a successful business.
